Geometric 3D Tiles

Can I tell you when I saw Johnno and Trixie’s bathrooms tiles last week I yelled out quite loud “oh wow” Of course this scares my Hubby as he knows it might mean our tile choices are changing.
I have been toying with Turkish tiles as my splash back in the kitchen. He has so far vetoed this idea but I may have him at Geometric tiles as they are less “flouncy” and easier for him to digest.
So as usual I delved into a world of what would it mean if we used this style.
Long Long ago tiles were introduced from North Africa to Iberia in what was known as Moorish Times. Iberia was part of the Sunni branch of Islam and they had a law against showing visual images of Living things. This background helps us to understand how Geometric patterns were introduced rather than using the floral patterns that  the Portuguese had already designed.
So as you see geometric tile patterns are not new and they are classic, you just need to jump in with confidence as Johnno and Trixie did with their bathroom.
You can find the tiles they used here at Urban Edge Ceramics.
So there you have it, Are you thinking you could find a home for Geometric tiles in your home.

  1. That first bathroom wall where it changes colors about half way down, that’s a wow. I think I could live with that because it is so striking. Great education on the geometric tile beginnings. I did not know about that. Very nice post. Ann
