Apartment Awarded for its Simple Style

This amazing 1 bedroom apartment in Potts Point was jointly recognised with a Residential Design Award at the 2012 Australian Interior Design Awards.
It was designed for and by its Architect, Anthony Gill.
The project was to convert this 38sqm apartment into a space that could be livable for his small family.
Everything was taken out after a previous renovation to leave only the masonry walls that existed to separate the bathroom wet areas.
Just to put it into perspective this garage is 40sqm

Simple New Joinery was inserted to be used both as storage and a divide between living areas.
You can see the Kitchen peaking out from behind the storage space.
You can see a child’s platform room while the master bedroom becomes only apparent after they pull there bed out form the joinery in the evenings.
Smart clever design like this requires intelligent planning and flexibility in the way you think and live.

The jury that commented on this apartment commended the way on which they transformed this apartment to become colourful, homely and full of personality with such a tight budget.

It goes to show how fantastic architecture and space planning can be accessible to everyone

Here is the Master Bedroom….Cant see it

Forward Thinking and small space planning can make simple living highly stylish and personable.

  1. This layout really deserves the award indeed! It is a very smart way to have been able to convert such a limited space into a very conducive living area that evokes a welcoming ambience. The storage cabinets not only provide extra storage space but also organizes things and keep the mess away. The pull-out bed is also a very clever idea that makes the room look spacious when it is not in use. A really amazing transformation.
