My Bathroom decisions and some Bathrooms to love.

There really are not enough inspirational bathroom images for my liking on the Internet.
Maybe its my style requirements that make it hard for me to find the right looks but I seem to come across either same same (not that there is anything wrong with that) or so completely different that you would never be able to properly function as a family
in the over styled (just design jealous) bathrooms.
I know I will end up hosting a same same (not that there is anything wrong with that) bathroom
in my new home as that is what will end up becoming the most affordable with the most function. That’s just life isn’t it.
So off to consider my design requirements for my child friendly, function efficient, stylish non same same, slightly design influenced bathroom.

1. Function
A bathroom to host children’s bath time for at least another 5 years.
Easy cleaning surfaces cos I am time poor.
Space for 2 children in 1 bathroom.
Style spaces for when guests use it.
Colour for a bit of fun
Wide shower for showering both kids at once.
A space that can be adapted to suit pre teens for my 2 as they grow.
This house is a long term plan.

2. Style
Modern, industrial with a hint of vintage.
I say vintage probably meaning old existing pieces, wink.

3.  Layout
No windows above the bath as they are always hard to
get to for cleaning and opening.
Toilet in its own room
Taps to be close to the edge of the bath or shower
Everything else will be based on size of the room allocated.

4. Special needs
Room for a step for brushing teeth
easy to access taps.
Storage space for toys
Storage for towels
Bench space for 1 boy and 1 girl and no fighting…..they get along now but at 8 months and 4.5 I should hope they get along.
Just a pre-emptive design layout for the future.

5. Colour
This main bathroom is mostly for the children
but guests will occasionally see it.
I will keep it coloured in the style (greys and white for a modern industrial style) I am aiming for
but add a fun vibrant colour in paint or feature tiles.

6. Materials
Thinking children again but keeping it real.
Not to much grout, not too much laminate
Maybe some timber and concrete.
Some feature tiles and no bare plaster walls.

7. Finishing Touches
I like minimal bathrroms so maybe a seat for
somewhere to place your clothes in the bathroom
but not to many things.
Some functional finishes like
canisters for bathroom “things”
like cotton wool balls,
moisturiser bottles, towel holder baskets.
8. Lighting
Love msyeld spme feetsaure lighting over a bath
but really need task lighting over the mirror.
Even children appreciate a good light in the bathroom
9. Mirror
This will be more for guests and us to start with and as the kids grow I am sure it will be the essential part of the room so nice and big so there is no fighting over the amount of mirror that they can stare at themselves longingly.

  1. Stunning bathroom ideas you have got there. For me, I personally feel that storage is a necessity in every bathroom. Thus, the concept with several storage shelves/compartments underneath the sink is practical for usage with 2 kids. Just focus on having the storage there, and leave out the rest of the bathroom space to accommodate bathing 2 kids at the same time. As for design, just pick something simple but modern.

  2. Bathroom is the place where you can also find relax and comfortable. It is good that your designs and accessories looks nice to make you feel you are in a clean place.
