Concrete Living Areas……Its not set In stone yet!

Its really not for everyone and yes grey is a cool colour so layering my entire home in Concrete will attract a

OMG what have they done when visitors leave our new home, but I just cant get away from wanting to have concrete walls and floors everywhere.
I initially thought kitchen bench top and now look at me I am a woman on a concrete mission.
Its a little bit like buying a label maker and finding yourself labeling the milk in the fridge because you just can’t stop.
So I have been busy researching and I think if concrete is the way we go I will just have to add in as much warmth in my decor as possible.
And you know all this means is lots of soft layering.
Rugs and throws and cushions and artwork, oh and pendant lights.
See its sounding more appealing now isn’t it. Am I selling you the look, am I?
Or do you think you would be one of my family members who would wait until they got int the car and say
“what were they thinking”

Not that it would sway me one way or another I will be building the house for our family and what we like as a design aesthetic I just know its still quite a polarizing element to cover your home in. But after building 4 times for what will sell easily in the future, keep it beige and safe is us (not that there is anything wrong with that),
I am finally looking forward to letting our design ideas run free.

Tell me have you let your design run free.

  1. I really love the look of the concrete its modern and sleek but I could see myself buying a zillion rugs to throw over the floors to warm the space up! So probably not for me :)

  2. I love the look. If you like it I say go for it :)

Personally, I wouldn’t do it, but then again I am a sucker for timber flooring.

Does polished concrete crack just like the slab/outdoor concrete does? I mean those tiny hairline cracks…

  3. I like concrete too but wowza it’s expensive! Not sure where you live but unless it’s tropical you’ll need underfloor heating for warmth. We put in Hydronic for a client and although not cheap to install is very cost effective to run and feels divine. WE have electric underfloor here and it’s too dear to run! Concrete floors are also very slippery when wet even with anti-slip application. Not meaning to be negative, just popping these truths into your planning consideration mix! x KL

  4. I myself l-o-v-e the concrete/ industrial look. Maybe not as far as the coffee table though. I would probably incorporate it rather than hve everything in concrete. Maybe a wall here and there. I am always conscious of trends and I think I would probably add lots of glass too. Very nice though. Thanks fr the peek
