Lets get Vertical
A Vertical Garden is a Garden that grows on walls. Oh Re- heally. That was easy. But no really, as much as I love the look of Vertical Gardens there are sooo many questions. How do I water it? what plants do I use? can I put it in a room near a heater?
Here is some of the essentials you need to know before deciding.Water is supplied to the top layer of plants and then drip feeds with nutrients the rest of the plants below you will need a drip catcher and be prepared to check and empty it daily.
You will need correct lighting, either near a open window or have some task lighting available to shine directly onto the plants for no more than a few hours a day. Yes this idea of vertical plants especially indoors can create a filter system for your air. Yes you can grow herbs and yes it can be used as sound absorption. Enough of the essential knowledge stuff. You can find out more from your local vertical landscaper. You could try here and here
I am a fan of the Dining Vertical Garden. As I have found out most of the hanging systems have fantastic acoustic properties so absorbing sound in a large group of people eating sounds like a perfect plan.
Lets give these people in this amazing workplace a bit more oxygen while they make decisions around their fantabulous (yes that’s a design word) boardroom table.
Instead of a waterfall lets add more greenery.
A little bit of a 70’s vibe but still so stylish. Fernery galore.
Lets create a terrarium out of the stairs.
I am a little perplexed by the drain but I love this look. Possibly and outdoor room which has been enclosed. I could soooo see myself getting lost in a good book.
If a vertical wall sounds all to simple there is always a garden dog sculpture.
LOVE this, Just no words……..Love.
Because I still think the dining room is the perfect spot. Add in some parsley to your garden and the guests can help themselves to some after dinner herbs.
If the indoor version freaks you out a little its as simple as creating it outside. Love this mix of plants.
Have I encouraged you to create your own Vertical Garden.
Fantabulous post!
I am extra interested in these vertical gardens because I live in London and this may be my only chance at a swath of green.
I didn’t consider the indoor option before but now it looks like it could be an option – especially around the dining table. All the herbs might make me not have to use that many candles either!
PS agree with you about that oddly placed drain…
Gee, Kristie, I have seriously mixed feelings on this one. Some look FANTASTIC, others not so. Don’t think I’d be brave enough but would love to see one in person. Great info! x KL
