Our Drop Zone and Kids Desk areas. What are your tips?

Last night Hubby and I sat down to see how we would arrange the Kids desk/storage area,
the “Drop Zone” our Laundry and our Walk in Robe
We always take pencil to paper……..never pen as that would be ludicrous with the amount of “but what if this was there” conversations. So as the Pencil and ruler were working over time Hubby and I pondered over all the fabulous ideas that we could incorporate into Mr5 and Miss1’s Rooms.
They will both have something like above with only the one door storage space. This is purely storage as they will also have a 2 door robe on the adjoining room.
What was that you always hear everyone say when building or renovating. “You can never have enough storage” Well my children will always have somewhere to hide put away their things.
No excuses future son and daughter reading this.
Anywho……..I thought I would share the rest of our inspiration and see if you all might have some top tips for kids desk/storage ideas. You know the essentials list.

Here is the basics of our “Drop Zone/Mud Room”
As a background our Kitchen is where our “office” is and we will not have any sort unessential storage  so this will be used as the unessential essentials area, wrapping paper, phone books, files and bills etc. This room is also part of our shopper entrance and outside my walk in Linen. So it all fits in the scheme of our home.
A Bench seat with 4 open pigeon holes below.  Hooks one for each of us all sitting on top of a covered cork board that can be used to pin essential notes letters etc . This are will house school bags and shoes, outdoor shoes and “stuff”
So tell me what else do I need to consider here?
Let me hear your ideas.

  1. I really like the bench seat idea because it makes the place cozy and children can use the space for leisure when they have friends over like to read books and play some games together. However, I would really recommend the bench to have additional storage compartments underneath it rather than just an empty hollow space. That will help to maximize storage.
