Hipster Design
Hello lovelies I have been teaching myself about all things hipster here at Elements. You know we are all about keeping up with trends and I pride myself on being “informed”. It appears what I thought was Hipster actually isn’t. First up let me say it has nothing to do with your “jocks or underwear” I think I might be showing my age when I tell you I initially thought Hipsters were just cool people under 30. I thought I was a hipster.
But noooo they are a group of people who are so on Trend they start the trend as the trend is just finishing being relevant. They are ironic and themselves eclectic. I think about it in terms of TV. We thought it was cool to bring back Knight Rider and Magnum PI tee shirts, Hipsters think its cool to bring back Riki Lake and put a pointy moustache on her.
Anyway in terms of design Hipsters also have a certain look to their homes. It a little bit mid century a little bit retro and lots of hidden technology. Then its all mixed in with some brand new trends. Feathers, skulls, taxidermy animals and a sprinkle of handmade crochet cushions or throws.
I am sure the pictures have told the story.
