I have a few clients at the moment who are looking at exterior colour schemes.

I thought I would share with you what I know about designing an exterior colour scheme for clients or even my own projects as I find

choosing the Roof is one of the first decisions I make.

This decision impacts on the style or tone for the rest of the home or project.

I think when you have decided on a theme you generally know straight away the answer to the question………. “are we having tiles or tin”

You also have to remember once you have made this decision that the facade or exterior of your home should be split up into the 60/30/10 rule.

60% Wall Colour, 30% Roof and 10% Fascias, Gutters and Design Elements.

The colours and style of Roof tiles have come along way and my recent favourite addition is from Monier in the form of their Solartile.

Have you seen it? Have you got it? Its the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. It blends in completely with the roof tiles, no big panels, no big ugly sheets of glass sitting out of place on your roof. Just nice streamlined roof tiles that collect sun for you. They can be adapted to 4 different profiles in the Monier range and they look sleek. I am using Monier as my go to brand as I know it and I know their products from a personal and professional point of view……Oh and I also love their website for ideas. On this page here they give you colour and style options and they will also highlight gutter and fascia ideas to work with your chosen roof colour. Then as an added bonus they will tell you down the bottom if a display home is using this colour or profile and where it is for you to view. Genius.
