Skateboard Sculptures. A New Street Art.
I have always been a fan of street art, you may or may not have seen my interviews with local and Australian Graf artists. I also love looking out for the alternative to Graffiti being other forms of art using street objects.
I have admired from afar this Japanese sculpturist “Haroshi”
He is a self taught artist. He creates full scale 3D wooden sculptures from used skateboard decks.
He has created some amazing pieces and in pure street art fashion has created some pieces that could easily offend. But if you view the art for arts sake you can see through the middle finger to the art world.
See the process of how he creates one of his pieces.
See here how he sets his pieces up Gallery style and talks through the process.
You can find out more on Haroshi here
What do you think, would you show one of these sculptures in your home.
love this, they’re fantastic pieces. Been meaning to respond about your question re: the bath darl…we commissioned a local guy, Drew Straker, and he was great!
