Modern Contemporary Butlers Pantry Ideas
We are not able to fit a Butlers pantry into our design but it doesn’t mean I didn’t try. It was Pantry or Laundry and I am such a Laundry away from the bedrooms kind of girl I couldn’t make it work any other way. So the Laundry won but I need to give up to all my readers all my visual research into contemporary/modern butlers pantries.

New Homes have a few different ways of placing the butlers pantry in your floor plan
One way is simply having an opening in the kitchen through to the Pantry, swinging door, sliding door or just an opening. Most of the time its in the corner of an L shaped Kitchen some of them are in the middle of the room and others at the end of a galley.
Another option is simply a walk around. This almost creates a double wall galley.
This is effective easy to use but can be narrow in its space as most homes do not have the depth of room to create this space successfully. You still see down the side of the kitchen in most circumstances and defeats the purpose of the room being a prep/storage/mess area. Either way they are useful and usable so I wouldn’t say no to either option.
Not quite a Butlers pantry but a hidden prep area can also be hidden behind a wall of pantry doors. I have included a selection of images for you to see what I mean here also. The other big consideration is to show the fridge or not show the fridge. There was no defining reason to keep the fridge in the pantry or to keep it as part of the main kitchen…….this decision is absolute and purely personal. Really it is.

Do you have a modern Butlers Pantry?
No! But would love one…over a walkin closet actually.
Oh wow, thats actually true. I think I would prefer it over my walk in robe also.
Great post Kristie! I had a large 4 metre WI pantry last house and LOVED it but also am unable to accomodate one in my current build. *sob*. The images of these butler’s kitchens are beautiful. The first image puts a huge thorn in my black and white plans…it is simply magnificent! x KL
its really divine isnt it. Those hints of silver and bling in amongst all the white. I have been trying to see how I can fit my kitchen behind a set of doors like the last few kitchens but its just not practical. We will have to compare black and white stories later down the track KL.
I too would love a butlers pantry. I am determined to have one in my next house, so I love your inspiration. Definitely a hide away one though, for the days when the kids make too much mess ;)

I love the overall modern concept. It gives that instant appeal as soon as you step into the pantry. I also like the idea of having the shelvings above the sink counter to provide as much storage as possible. The metal storage cabinet concept is also very attractive and at the same time clever, because it conceals all the mess and whatever else you dump inside.
