Timber Tiles, what do you think?
Have you been watching the Block All stars? They are up to Bathroom week and
Mark and Duncan’s Timber Tiles have got me thinking. I have never been a fan of timber tiles but I have seen what they are trying to achieve and I started wondering if there was a better way.
Maybe they have used too much, maybe they have got it right for some of you and maybe they have got it completely wrong, that’s all subjective but I can see what they were thinking and I have found some inspiration.
Neale Whitaker mentioned to them about it feeling Scandi, I couldn’t see it totally at first but I can see exactly what he means after seeing this pic.
See they are close but its just not quite right.
Mixing the timber tiles and white tiles and using it as if its timber I think is the key.
Just a small amount of the tile creates the feeling of timber and not as a feature tile.
You are starting to see what I mean now right?
Love this mixture of timber tiles and hexagonal tiles. This is gorgeous.
Running the tiles in different directions give a feel of Authenticity (I am feeling like a judge on American Idol right now)
I think I may even consider timber tiles for our bathroom. I am off to research some more. What do you think of the timber look tiles, do you have them?
Im with you I think the timber tiles on white looks good. The boys have really come a long way in this season haven’t they? Im impressed!
I know Michelle, they have and they really did quite well with the tiles. Still not my thing colour wise but I am glad to have seen what they can look like.
I do like the tiles. I don’t know if I could have a whole room with them tho but as a small feature I think it would look good. Lisa xo
Yes Lisa, just a small amount would do perfectly.
You have some great examples Kristie, I dont mind the timber tiles, but I dont like what mark & Duncan are doing with them, I don’t feel they tie into the styleof the home!!
I think the style of the house is a little eclectic interior wise now that we have seen their first few rooms. They are going to have to carry that through for it all to work successfully at the end I think.
Hubby & I are currently looking to build a kit home on our block in the beautiful upper Hunter. I have been mulling over floor coverings & have been tossing up between timber & tile. I love the look of timber but I love the ease of care of tiles…you can imagine my excitement when I saw those tiles on The Block! I was on pinterest & facebook within seconds!!!
So my problem is solved! These timber tiles throughout the kitchen, butler’s pantry, family, meals area, bathrooms, laundry & the hallways & carpet in the formal lounge/dining, bedrooms, rumpus, study & home theatre rooms.
Oh wow, so evciting for you SB, do you have a blog or some where we can follow your build?
We at Kalafrana Ceramics have been importing them for 16yrs now. They have come a long way and are so impressive. Some lines have up to 200 variations in the print/shade/tone from tile to tile. This greatly enhances that natural look.
Cheers
Charlie
