Hallway Design Ideas
Some may argue Hallways are a waste of essential living space in a home. For me I find them a great way of differentiating space. I could describe it as the trunk to hold different branches, sort of essential as the start of life to the rest of the house.
Given that builders, designers and architects are all finding exciting and interesting ways to create and design hallways I think keeping them can be more beneficial than getting rid of them.
I also love a hallway for the simple fact its a welcome personalised area of your home.
For your guests its an introduction to you, a stopping point for a handshake, warm welcome or a
no Thank you to those pesky salespeople selling things you don’t want or I will just get my money for those cookies being sold.
For you its a place to kick off your shoes, put your bags down, feel safe, temporary excitement for new arrivals and most of all a place to exhale after a long day.
So How do you decorate your hall space.
Painted Ceiling and Open walls.
Break up your walls with Dado Rails (Cameron or Andrew will do)
A narrow shelf and eclectic wall decor for personalisation
Feature Stonework and seating for shoes, bags or waiting
Creative Lighting and Ceiling Height can make a huge statement while keeping it simple.
Curtains to soften and create private sections without using doors
Cabinetry for displaying decor and designer storage solutions that hide all the uglies necessaries
Imagine being able to hide those decor pieces Aunt Mildred bought you but quickly get them out of hiding when she comes to visit.
Create a Library with your hallway space. If you feel your hallway is a waste of space utilise it for shallow items such as books and office storage baskets, files and stationery drawers.
Keep it really simple. A Narrow Hall can still be decorated by adding a narrow lipped wall shelf to sit items on. This will create a fuller feeling more than just hanging pictures on a wall as shadows are created.
I love imparting helpful tips. Let me know if you are needing tips for your home and I will help you out.
Gee, our hallway is looking rather boring in comparison to your ideas above!! Just a photo gallery for us but our entry way has more colour and a few quirkier bits and bobs that I hope create a welcoming feel for our visitors :)
