WASHI TAPE FOR DESIGN
I have started to find myself staring more and more at Washi Tape images AND falling in like with them. You see I am a no sew = girl. You know the sort that can’t spend too long doing any one thing.
I can do a lot of things a little bit but my attention does not need a long drawn out repetitive craft.
I wish I could but I have just learnt what my strengths are over the years and quick and easy is my strength. Anyway I think that is why I am known to be good with an eye for detail in decor and design.
My eyes dart everywhere taking in a whole room all at once. Generally this allows me to feel if something doesn’t work well as a designer.
Look at me digress.
Back to the Washi tape, its quick and easy and can transform a space quickly and easily (funny that).
It is a product that was developed in Japan by a masking tape company who had a group of artists approach them and ask if they could add some new artwork to their existing product. That was in 2006 and from then washi tape has slowly spread Internationally.
It has had a big following with the scrapbookers and crafty folk but design has taken a little longer to pick it up. Wow that is not at all like us. But with the new jumbo rolls I think things are going to change in Washi tape design world
I think these will be perfect for Easter. No paint, yay!…..Its almost just like stickers. Who doesn’t love stickers right.
This would never fly with Hubby as he uses my work space keyboard in the kitchen also but what a great way to personalise your keyboard at work, Add some much needed fun in your work space.
Love this its so cute. OK i will tell you more below but this is the new jumbo rolls of Washi tape.
This is a great way to decorate your room without using streamers or tinsel at Christmas.
Oh see I found a project. I actually cant help but think this looks like a scene from
Where the Wild Things Are, maybe its his hat.
Simple stripes transform a space.
So there is now jumbo rolls of Washi tape they are between 15cm and 30cm so imagine what you could achieve with simple tape and you can just peel it off when you feel like a change.
This is sounding better by the minute.
If you want to try your hand at a little Washi Tape decorating magic head over to Louise Bell’s
You can start with this great set of neon washi tapes in a jam jar for only $20.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR WASHI TAPE?
Love the idea of the jumbo tapes – I thought about using it for stripes in my living room but thought they were too thin. Jumbo ones might be just the thing! Thanks for sharing xx

Thats exactly what I thought when I first saw it.
I noticed your pins on pinterst today and thought a blog post on washi tape might be in the works.
I’m actually planning a similar post for my blog. I bought a heap of washi tape online and I’m going to test out some of the ideas I’ve seen on pinterest and reveal the results. I’m pretty excited. I found some really neat patterns and ended up spending a small fortune on the stuff. It’s so much fun though. And so versatile
I think you are starting to know me to well Joey ;-) I came across it and then thought wow its si cheap I could buy a few and then went I could buy heaps…and now want so many I cant decide and have bought 1. Procrastanating. Can you divulge where you bought yours.
And I Looooove that clock!
Love washi.. far to fab.. I get tonnes and never have time to use it x
