Rusty not Rustic Weekend Decor Project
Some of you may or may not be keeping up with my building, not building, building, not building scenarios. Its a roller coaster of plans and ideas being bantered around and then shelved.
Well its on again…..maybe……..and I am back in research mode.
Not that I am never really looking around at trends, as well, that’s my job right. People pay me to keep up to date.
So I also like to keep my finger in all sorts of design pie.
This style is great for our Industrial loving folk and those with a vintage contemporary eye.
It is perfect for those on a budget or just wanting to find that one thing that tells a story.
Junk yard salvage Decor is a wonderful way to add personality and a story with a
fabulous real rust colour.
Once you start searching your eye will start to pick up on shape and pieces that can be scattered around with meaning in your home and what will be added to your existing decor to mix new with old, rustic with rusty.
This is fabulous if you have bookshelves or Vignettes to create. Work with what you have first and then take a visit with a size or shape of an item you need to finish off each shelf or space.
You can see above the pendant is a candle holder hooked up via a chain not connected to power just purely for decorative purpose and space filling.
Recognise that space you need to fill, the size of the piece and the amount of items with a budget and your bartering hat on and you will be surprised at what you come home with.
THOUGHTS!
Oh I love the ladder corner! … a perfect ensemble of vintage pieces. I did the same candelabra thingy not hooked up to power on my last terrace, when I was not allowed to have a hanging pendant close to water. Everyone commented on it. There’s a lot to be said for ‘decorative purpose’! A-M xx
i am in love with the using oversized letters as wall decor trend. in fact, i’ve been searching etsy and elsewhere for that perfect sized industrial letter(s). no luck yet though. beautiful spaces and happy weekend!
p.s. the baby is about to turn a year old this month; i am in disbelief! hope you’re enjoying your little bundle(probably not that little anymore either!:-))
Love this look – too bad my husband likes everything new & modern! I am loving those big rusted letters.
