Blackboards……Inspiration
Country Living
I have never been a big fan of Blackboard simply because once you use the blackboard you never quite get that dusty grey wash look back to that nice crisp black you originally painted or bought.
The other problem is I have split personality writing styles….I mix Upper case and Lower case letters and it happens naturally and looks terrible, unless I concentrate and do all upper-case which is neat, but takes me a while.
But…..saying all that, I love the idea of it and the way it works, when it works well.
So you should know by now, when I research I find every image I can possibly find to support my idea.
So here they all are.
Divine.
I think I would keep it on my bed and leave my Hubby messages.
In case you forget your recipe as your going write in front of you.
Write your guests names directly on the table.
Storage Buffet for husbands ;-)
They will never ask again.
In case there is no room left on the table for place names how about adding it to the chairs.
Shades of Blackboard paint make up this stylish Calendar from Martha
Just in case you are in between homes or your backpacking around the Country you can get your friends to leave a message as you move.
Now this blackboard is stunning, I would have to get my creativity on and focus on bringing out my inner artist.
Paint a chair for your kids play room and allow them to get their art on!
So you have changed your decor colours and don’t know what to do with your old vases…
Blackboard paint and a cute pattern.
Source for all the above.
I love this image….it has a storey
Creative!
Blackboard Splashback……reminders and things to do now have a home and no one can say they didn’t see them.
Your shopping list or in my case during diet week this would say……
“Are you back here again”
I love blackboards and would love to have one. My fussy DH worries about the chalk dust – rolleyes.
I love the splashback with the recipe and the table the best:). But can I be cheeky and suggest the easiest way to introduce a little blackboard fun into your decor? Out gorgeous Chalkboard Cushion – which is a piece of Chalkboard fabric inserted in a burlap cushion.

I have a pantry door in my kitchen that I ended up adding moulding to and painting it with blackboard paint. Even though it never looks really clean I like the look and I love how interactive it makes the kitchen. Every party we have people will be cooking, drinking and drawing pictures all over it for me!
Anna, that sounds like so much fun…
and a great way for your guests to be part of the evening…
Julie-Ann……I ended up adding that cushion in, I can’t believe I forgot my true inspiration piece…..lol
Great inspiration. I just went out & brought Porter’s Paints Jungle Frog green and Brainwaves Blue to paint the kids furniture with colour chalkboard paint. When I was a kid in the 70s my dad painted a huge chalkboard in our lounge room for all of his friends to write jokes…it was a great laugh, although the kids were never allowed to touch it. KP
Great inspiration pictures. Love blackboards too but agree with you about the dusty grey. My youngest son also writes in upper and lower case…I think it looks good xx Katherine
