You light up my life.

I bought these Lamps for $20 off gumtree.
Popped into the local thrift store and found a pewter jug and a small ginger pot for $3.
Thinking, thinking, thinking what to do with my finds.

Tada!!!!

I painted the lamp base and recovered the shade and much to my amazement they look awesome and Hubby really likes them.
This is amazing as his 1st response was “really they are going to be our bedside lamps”?
and I was all like “you know I am going to paint and redecorate them” and he was all like “yeah well I hope they turn out” and I was like………….Sorry I just regressed into 16 year old me telling my Mum to relax about her lamps looking different when she got home from work about 5 years ago.
Ha ha, 5 years…..
Wow, what a tangent.
Right, back to the lamps.

Now I am just finishing off my 2nd lamp and then they will relocate to my bedsides as part of my Master Bedroom upgrade.
I will be back to show you some more thrifty purchasing.

  1. Wow, I love, what you’ve done with your finds – what a great job. Isn’t it so rewarding when you’re finds come together and with a little bit of DIY they really shine! :-)

  2. Just Martha…..The best tips are glue, both spray and craft and lots of pins……and patience. Maybe get a cheap lamp and cheap fabric 1st to try out for another room and then it will no matter so much. My 2nd lamp was much easier than the 1st because I had worked out what was easy. Can’t wait to see them.
    Thanks for visiting girls.x

  3. The lamp looks great! Love what you did to the shade – it’s so pretty and colourful.

Looking forward to seeing how the two lamps look in your bedroom :-)

    {You’re welcome for the suggestions for your bedroom. Hope one or two of them were helpful!}

  4. I love what your hubby said to you. Does he not have faith in your abilities to transform?? Lamp looks just lovely, I love the fabric. Can’t wait to see your bedroom updated!

  5. W O W. You clever little duck. They look spectacular. Is it difficult to recover lamps shades? I am loving thrift in all it’s forms at the moment (out of necessity & not choice unfortunately), look forward to witnessing more of you brilliance.

    Love Katie
