A little girls bedroom..&…How to create an inspiration board.
My latest client has 3 daughters and I am in charge of making their space purely theirs.
They were luckily given the whole of the Dulux colour chart to choose from and given 100% go ahead by Mum and Dad for whatever they like.
With all this in mind I had to narrow down the ideas to get a theme.
Our colour is a fantastic vibrant green and the theme is fun with fairy’s.
I am sharing with you how we came up with new room from scratch.
The above pic is our Colour Inspiration pic
I am still deciding on the stripes, what do you think?

This is the best way to find a theme and have a visual idea of what you are heading toward.
Some more Colour ideas and the the mix of colours that we have decided on.
The computer is not a true representation of the final colours but you get the idea.
I am thinking a daybed with the fake pull out drawers that double as a trundle bed for when sleepovers start and a cute little rattan side table for an even cuter lamp.
The day bed inspiration pic.
I am thinking this built in wall cabinet may even be a better option than the free standing furniture for storage.
This great colourful rug will tie in all the colours and add something a little extra on the hardwood floors throughout.
Cute little curtains as a little bit of colours over some white timber shutters.
Blue Fairy decals to sit on top of the day bed.
We have an existing framed fairy picture that this little girl is keen to hang on her walls.

We have to also include a little Asian parasol in orange, so hanging some paper lanterns at different heights and colours will add some fun and help balance the height of the room.
A pic for paper lantern inspiration….
This cute little lamp.
Completed with this essential storage cube set but with pink storage boxes.
So this is how I pull a room together with ideas and styles melded to adapt to one little girls base colour and 2 essential included items.
You also have to remember this is all purely inspiration although all the items were picked because of their possible availability but that does not always go to plan.
So this is where we all have to be open minded as there may be more adaptations along the way.
Now I will present this as a colour inspiration board to the little girl and see if I have created her new bedroom. Stay tuned there could be changes.
Of course I would love your input also.
It all looks like lots of fun. I am a bit partial to stripes and I love the paper lanterns and parasol. I hope the little girl likes what you have selected. I know I would. ;-)
I love your inspiration photos Kristie:). I think you are doing an amazing job with a very difficult colour. I like the stripes. It breaks up the colour. The lanterns and the parasol are gorgeous touch of whimsy.
Brilliant- any little girl would love it:)
I’d definitely go with the stripes. It breaks up the monotone of the green. I love the colour palette too and the inspiration pics that you featured. Paper lanterns are also another favourite of mine. They’re so easy to incorporate in a space and are budget friendly:-).
I am loving the vibrant green as it is really suitable for the kids’ room. Even if the entire wall were to be just plain green, I think the element of fun would already be there. However, the additional add-ons like the colorful rug, curtains and decals, really do complement one another. I think the fake pull out drawers underneath the daybed is a clever idea, but if the kids seldom have sleepovers, then real storage would be good. This is because kids tend to have endless amount of stuff to store!
