Face Scullery
The Face Scullery
I have been on the search for new and inspiring ideas for bathrooms and wondering what may be the
“next big thing”
OK that’s a big call and no its not that new but my take on it is definitely new.
A makeup vanity and chair as part of your bathroom cabinetry, its like a scullery to your kitchen.
The beauty prep area. I know cheeky huh, but really girls, I am not a girly girl, I do not spend hours in front of the mirror doing my makeup and hair but I do know I take up more than half of the drawers and cupboards with all my lotions, potions, makeup, hair product and appliances, my back up shampoo and conditioner, cleaning products and gpp’s (girly protective products)….have you identified with at least half of that?. I maybe spend 2 hours a week in front of the mirror and 40 min of that is straightening my hair……that takes forever.
So how do we make this work in possibly one of the smallest but most used rooms of the home. We add a makeup vanity or space for our face scullery. I am thinking we probably don’t even need a second basin we just need some fantastic solutions to house all these essential products and items and somewhere lovely to sit and take our time panel beating….. I mean freshening up our face………not that we need it.
Lets face it we can always do with another reason to sit and take time out.

Willow Decor did a fantastic article on this home, yes there is more
amazing pics like this here thanks to Architect Tom Catalano
Great images, I can’t imagine sitting down to do my hair or makeup. I am usually rushing to get ready and out the door. It would be a nice little luxury I guess… If one had the time….
So many beautiful bathrooms!
This is a fabulous idea…I especially love the last 2 pics…Im inspired!!! Thanks
Yes I’ve been thinking about this too! I am considering having only one basin in ensuite and making the rest more space for doing make-up and hair. But the downside for me is that I am really big on symmetry, and one basin to one side may look odd? Even considerend doing something similar in the WIR but possibly too dark for applying make-up. I like your ideas!

I love the idea of a vanity area!! These images are amazing, my favorite is the second to last. I think it is because I am obsessed with sconces in mirrors, lovely!
Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks for your wonderful comments on my blog about my bathroom dilema! I really value your opinion and advice! What you wrote was really helpful! Thanks so much.

It looks so luxurious in these spaces. Hmmmm…it gives me food for thought for when we redo our bathroom. xx
One of my regrets about building our home is that I didn’t ask for a make-up area in the bathroom. It would have been manageable to put a vanity in the middle of our two sinks too. Darn it! I love all of these images, I’m green with envy!
Glad I could offer some inspiration, It is one thing I would love to do but after having a massive ensuite a few homes ago I found all I did was clean extra space and not use it well….This idea however is using your space well….
Briohny, its a pleasure.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today and commenting. I love meeting new people and learning about new blogs. And yours is great!
I would love a little spot to do my makeup but, alas, no room :(
My favourite is the first picture – White Out.
I love this idea. I experienced it in a hotel once and was so impressed. As a girlie girl I spend way too much time doing my hair and makeup. It would be lovely to sit down on the job. I think a Ghost Chair would be perfect for here- don’t you think (wink)
